After winning their first FA Cup match in eight years, Unai Emery says Villa are ready to fight on three fronts.
Villa advanced to the fourth round after a 1-0 win against Middlesbrough on Saturday. While his team is second in the Premier League and has advanced to the last-16 of the Europa Conference League, Emery is also aiming for glory in the cup.
“We’re going to face each competition and try to be a contender to do something,” he added.
“The Premier League is our first competition because it allows us to achieve our first goal of qualifying for Europe.”
“However, in the Conference League and FA Cup, we must see it as a good way to get something for our fans.” It is both a prize and a source of status. It is challenging, although it is shorter than the Premier League.
“We will not turn down the opportunity to do something in the cup.” But we’ll take it one game at a time.”
Villa had lost eight consecutive FA Cup matches until snapping their run with a deflected 87th-minute strike from Matty Cash.

“The FA Cup is a very historic cup competition, possibly the best in the world,” Emery remarked.
“We were discussing with our players how successful they were in this competition, and the answer was not very.
“Villa was successful in this competition for a long time, winning seven titles.” We’re here to take another step ahead and become a contender.
“The FA Cup is one opportunity.” Of sure, it’s quite difficult. Football is extremely difficult. We took the first step on Saturday and are now focusing on the next round. We intend to be ambitious.”
