‘I can’: Marc Roca reveals his next season Leeds United hope with new contract reveal

When Leeds were relegated, Marc Roca was among numerous players who left on loan with a relegation release clause.

Marc Roca has expressed his hopes for the upcoming season with Leeds United and offered an update on another provision in his contract.

Roca, a Spanish midfielder, was one of many senior players that left Leeds last summer after the club was relegated to the Championship due to a relegation release loan clause.

The 27-year-old joined La Liga club Real Betis on loan for the 2023-24 season, during which Roca has made 24 league starts as well as appearances in the Europa League and Europa Conference League.

According to reports from Spain, Betis fans are concerned about Roca’s future because of his influence on the team. The midfielder has also apparently purchased a home in Seville.

Meanwhile, his parent club Leeds are aiming for a quick return to the Premier League and control their automatic promotion fate with nine games remaining.

In an interview with Spanish media site El Desmarque, Roca stated that his contract includes another loan exit release provision, which allows him to leave Leeds next season if the team is not in the Premier League.

Roca, on the other hand, says he really hopes Daniel Farke’s side wins promotion and has left it up to his agents to decide his future, acknowledging that he is content at Betis.

Roca stated: “There is a clause like this year. If Leeds does not make the Premier League, I can go out on loan again. Let us see. It depends on whether they go up or down.

“These are outside of my control. I genuinely hope they improve, because I wish them the best for all of the teams I’ve been on. I am grateful to them and wish them the best; it has been my home, and from there we will see.”

Roca said, “The truth is that I am content here. I am pleased with my teammates, the coaching staff, and the club personnel… I am happy here, as is my family. I have given my feedback to my representatives so that they can do their best.”
