‘Murillo and I declined’… Danilo claims he was upset when Nottingham Forest star made a major statement

Danilo has revealed what he and Murillo told Nottingham Forest defender Felipe before declaring his retirement from football.

The athlete recently made the crucial decision, and now ESPN Brazil has questioned Danilo about his friend.

Danilo does not seem pleased that Felipe has decided to quit Forest and end his career. We’ve taken a deeper look at what he’s said about his Reds teammates.

What Danilo has said about Felipe’s announcement of retirement

Felipe’s retirement has officially been confirmed, with his Forest contract expiring in the summer.

He has struggled for playing time at Forest this season due to a variety of injury issues, and he has decided that enough is enough.

Felipe joined Forest for just £1.8 million from Atletico Madrid in January 2023, and he helped the Reds stay in the Premier League.

Danilo admitted that he and Murillo spent a lot of time pressuring him to change his mind about his impending retirement.

He told ESPN Brazil: “He used to make a few comments, but Murillo and I told him it was too early to retire.” But now he’s stated that it’s certain. Now the decision is more certain and concrete.

“He achieved a lot for Corinthians, Porto, Atlético de Madrid, and us here last season, and now he’s recovering confidence after a long absence from the game.

“I hope he stays here with us for another year and retires in another season.”

Forest will need to replace Felipe.

If Felipe had stayed with the Forest this season, it’s difficult to picture the squad struggling defensively as much as they did at times.

Finally, he’s a player who exudes class, and even at 34 years old, he’s been a valuable addition to the group.

However, as with most players, he has now reached his retirement age. Throw in a few minor injury issues, and perhaps it’s time for him to call it quits.

However, Forest must replace Felipe. The squad may be low on leaders right now, which will need to be addressed over the summer.

In our opinion, it would be extra wonderful if Felipe could cap his career by assisting Forest in securing another season in the Premier League during the final ten games.
