According to a Dutch football journalist, Ibrahim Sangare may be regretting his decision to join Nottingham Forest after leaving PSV this summer.
The 25-year-old has not started a game since Boxing Day, and has missed games due to the African Cup of Nations and injuries.
Dutch reporter Rif Elfrink feels Sangare may be regretting his Forest choice. Let’s take a deeper look at what he’s stated about the aggressive midfielder.
Rik Elfrink says Ibrahim Sangare regrets the Nottingham Forest move.
It’s a reasonable point, and after witnessing PSV play in the Champions League and go to the round of 16, he may have some regrets.
His playing time has been limited owing to a variety of causes, and he has made only 12 appearances for the Reds.
On transfer deadline day in August, Forest signed Sangare for a fee of £30 million from PSV.
Elfrink says he would have wanted to have played more for Forest, and that Sangare may now be regretting his transfer to the City Ground.
He told Voetbal Zone: “He had a great time here in Eindhoven.”
“When he departed in August, I saw him, and that moved me. I thought it was extremely impressive that he left here with tears in his eyes; I don’t see that very frequently. Sangare had a nice time in Eindhoven.
“No, it did not become the ideal step that was originally envisioned. The Premier League suits him, but it’s a shame it hasn’t worked out well for him thus far.”
Sangare can still do well for the Reds.
With Sangare’s injury healed and ready to play again, Nuno Espirito Santo must get him back into the Forest team.
Sangare’s performance in a 4-2-3-1 against Newcastle on Boxing Day was unexpected, but he delivered a masterpiece in midfield.
Sangare performed well at West Ham in November, but his standout performances have been few and far between.
Steve Cooper did not assist Sangare in his relocation to Forest. He acknowledged to putting the midfielder in a position he wasn’t comfortable with when he initially joined the club.
Given that Sangare is only 25 and cost £30 million, the midfielder still has time to establish his worth to Forest.
The man with six bookings should just stick to the basics. With a run of regular games, Forest fans should soon see the Sangare revered by PSV supporters.
