Lewis O’Brien, who is on loan from Nottingham Forest, played for Middlesbrough in the Championship yesterday night, defeating Birmingham 1-0.
After the game, Teesside Live evaluated his performance.
So, what did the local media have to say about Forest-owned O’Brien on his most recent appearance? Let’s look more closely.
Middlesbrough’s Lewis O’Brien contributes to their important three-point win.
At times, Michael Carrick’s players worked hard, and the 1-0 scoreline may have favored Birmingham.
O’Brien has had to recover from a shattered leg sustained during his most recent loan spell away from Nottingham Forest.
Right now, however, he appears to have regained his spot in the Boro team, with the club only five points away from the play-offs.
O’Brien made a couple of tackles last night, according to Who Scored, and completed 82.6% of his 46 throws.
Teesside Live awarded him a consistent six out of ten, and after the game, they had some kind comments for the Forest player.
They described the match as follows: “Full of energy for Boro and making some important defensive contributions, but ultimately unable to do much going in the other direction, with Boro ultimately not ruthless enough to kill this game off and make it far more comfortable than it ought to have been.”
O’Brien could have a Forest future.
This will be an interesting one, and if Forest is demoted, O’Brien may be granted a reprieve.
Forest now have a £10 million midfielder on their books, recruited from Huddersfield, who is a Championship maestro.
As a result, it would be foolish to capitalize on it, and he would almost certainly become indispensable if Forest fell back into the second tier.
O’Brien has made 14 appearances for Forest, and when he signed in 2022, he was given a deal that stretched until 2026.
The player’s current focus will be on assisting Middlesbrough in advancing to the Championship playoffs.
However, we believe that his long-term future may simply be with Forest.
