Besiktas’s owner revealed how much the club paid to sign Joe Worrall

Besiktas chairman Hasan Arat has revealed how much the club paid to sign Nottingham Forest skipper Joe Worrall on loan in January.

The chief has spoken during the club’s first council meeting of the year.

So, what did Arat say about Forest defender Worrall? Let’s look more closely.

What Besiktas’s owner has said about Forest defender Joe Worrall

Well, at the first Besiktas meeting of the year, Arat was questioned about Worrall’s signing, and he made some curious remarks.

Worrall was released by Forest in January after failing to convince Nuno Espirito Santo that he could play a role.

Worrall was pursued by Leeds, Leicester, and Middlesbrough before moving to Turkey to sign on loan with Besiktas.

Arat revealed that another Turkish business was interested in Worrall, but they were able to outbid them.

He declared at the most recent Besiktas council meeting: “We hired Joe Worrall as a centre-back. He’s on loan, and we paid €500,000. A famous club in Turkey gave a guarantee of 4.5 million euros, but Joe Worrall wanted to come to us.”

Worrall could have a City Ground future.

Worrall’s chances of playing under the previous manager were hampered by a reported falling out with Steve Cooper.

Worrall did sign a new long-term contract earlier this season, and if Forest are relegated, he might return to the club.

At 27 years old, the footballer has time on his side – he just needs to recover his confidence.

There are already indications that Besiktas may not be the right club for him to do so. He has only made three appearances for his new team and does not appear to be the first choice.

A lot can happen between now and the summer, and it will be intriguing to see what Forest does with Worrall.
