Daniel Farke has done an excellent job since taking over as manager of Leeds United last year, putting to rest the demons that plagued the Whites last season.
A decluttering was badly required. However, with so many players moving on loan, the summer was far from ideal. As a result, their departures did little to boost Farke’s budget for the recent promotion push.
As a result, the club will make judgments on several players this summer who you would not expect to see wearing a Leeds shirt again.
Meanwhile, some may be able to re-enter the picture if conditions improve in the following months.
Jack Harrison is undoubtedly one of those whose circumstance raises questions. It was no surprise that he remained in the Premier League this season. The winger has joined Everton on loan.
After making his debut, he got off to a good start. The 27-year-old scored and assisted on his second Premier League outing for Everton.
Leeds’ chances of selling Jack Harrison to Everton may be dwindling.
However, Everton’s fortunes have been gloomy yet again this season. They have received a points deduction and face additional penalty for a second alleged infraction.
Meanwhile, Sean Dyche’s team has not won since mid-December. Luton are only four points back. And three of the four teams below Everton have a game in hand.
Much may depend on whatever division Everton will play in next year. However, it appears like the Toffees will have to be strategic with any money they can spend in the transfer window.
Everton has a clause that permits them to sign Harrison permanently for £20 million. And, given that he has only scored two goals in his last 20 league outings, the Toffees will undoubtedly have doubts about paying £20 million on the wide-man.
That may not necessarily imply that he will return to Leeds. Of sure, if we get promoted, his experience will be beneficial. However, many fans were disappointed by those who left on loan in the summer. And Farke does not lack possibilities, especially in broad domains.
Other clubs will be interested in signing Harrison. But if Leeds were anticipating Everton would jump at the chance to sign him for £20 million, those dreams may be fading as the Toffees struggle.
