Leeds United’s £30 million star has been linked with Premier League giants

Crysencio Summerville of Leeds United has had a fantastic season thus far, attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including the current Premier League leaders.

The Dutch winger has been perhaps Daniel Farke’s most significant player thus far in the 2023/24 season, and he is presently joint-fourth in the Championship with Sunderland winger Jack Clarke, with 12 goals in total.

Summerville is also Leeds’ most productive attacker, with 18 goals and six assists in all competitions for the Peacocks as Farke’s men have the fourth-best attacking record in England’s second division.

However, as a result of his outstanding performances, the winger’s stock has risen and he is being linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including Everton and Burnley, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claiming during the summer that the latter had a £17 million bid rejected by Leeds.

Anfield Watch has now revealed that Liverpool, the Premier League table-toppers, are interested in the 22-year-old and have scouted him extensively ahead of the summer transfer window.

Furthermore, the newspaper claims that Summerville’s contract at Elland Road no longer includes a release clause, while it has also been stated in recent weeks that Leeds will hold out for between £25-30 million.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Leeds United are likely to entertain offers for Wilfried Gnonto this winter, which means the club might lose two quality wingers in the next six months.

    Author’s Opinion

While Leeds United fans will be disappointed to lose Summerville, it is better for the club to accept an offer for him at the end of the season rather than in the middle of the season, as this might jeopardize their chances of returning to the Premier League.

Unless an irresistible bid comes in, the Leeds board should keep Summerville as long as possible while simultaneously researching prospective alternatives for the Dutchman ahead of the summer window.
