Aston Villa has made a ‘real offer,’ and the path to a deal suddenly appears clearer

Corriere dello Sport reports on Saturday’s Italian stance on Cyril Ngonge, specifically the battle between Aston Villa and Fiorentina to sign the Verona star.

The aim of Fiorentina to secure the attacker during the winter market has been covered in the Italian press. This season, the 23-year-old has appeared in 17 Serie A matches, scoring five goals and providing three assists.

Fiorentina’s manager, Vincenzo Italiano, is thought to be pressing hard for a deal. La Viola, on the other hand, has yet to make a bid because they believe Verona is asking for too much money.

Verona is rumored to desire ‘just around’ €15 million, although the Tuscany club believes something closer to €10 million would be more fair.
Aston Villa, unlike Fiorentina, has made a ‘real offer’. This has been reported extensively, and it has even been stated that Villa’s offer is reasonable, but the player is believed to wish to remain in Italy.

Corriere dello Sport explains the viewpoint, and it sheds some light on Aston Villa.

Ngonge’s sights aren’t set on the Premier League or Unai Emery’s team. It’s claimed he believes he has a better chance of ‘continuity’ of games if he stays in Serie A, a league that’s more ‘congenial to his attributes’.

On the one hand, if he doubts his ability to succeed in the Premier League, he should leave. On the other hand, if Aston Villa are convinced, the path to persuading him is now clearer.
