Leeds United are ready to sell Max Wöber to Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer after his loan period expires, according to reports in Germany.
The Whites were rattled this summer when various loan clauses appeared in players’ contracts, allowing them to depart the team on a temporary basis, leaving the 49ers and Daniel Farke helpless to intervene.
Many of them have underperformed since leaving Elland Road, although some are expected to seek permanent deals, following the signings of Robin Koch and Luis Sinisterra at their respective loan clubs.
Max Wöber joins Borussia Monchengladbach permanently.
According to German outlet Gladbach Live, Max Wöber’s future at Borussia Monchengladbach has already decided.
He appears to have been impressive for the Bundesliga club since leaving in July, despite their recent dismal defensive record following Farke’s departure in the offseason.
According to the source, it has already been agreed that Wöber will join them permanently at the end of the season.
“In the professional squad, the transfer plans for two players at Borussia Mönchengladbach are already clear: Max Wöber (26) and Jordan Siebatcheu (27) are to be maintained over the coming summer.”
Max Wöber Stats Since Leaving Leeds
Wöber was one of the exits that sparked the most outrage because he apparently told Farke that he wanted to stay at the club and fight for promotion, only to jump ship when another team came calling.
Since then, he’s been a regular at his current team, but he hasn’t been able to break the pattern of conceding goals frequently.
Max Wöber’s 23/24 stats | |
---|---|
Appearances (minutes) | 20 (1711) |
Yellow cards | 3 |
Red cards | 1 |
Goals conceded (per 90) | 38 (2.01) |
Clean sheets | 3 |
Getting a good fee for Wöber would be fantastic.
Nobody is going to be concerned about Wöber leaving the club on a permanent basis since, while he was decent during our relegation plunge, he was not spectacular.
Since then, you could say that our rebuild without him has resulted in three stronger centre-backs: Pascal Struijk, Joe Rodon, and Ethan Ampadu.
If selling Wöber keeps our balance healthy enough that we don’t have to sell any key players as a result of not progressing, then it’s the best thing he’s done for Leeds United.
