Roma is interested in signing Leeds United centre-back Diego Llorente on a permanent basis, with the intention of quickly selling him to PSG for a profit.
Leeds still have a number of loose ends to tie up as the 23/24 season draws to a close, primarily with players who left the club on loan for the season.
Of that group of players, Diego Llorente appears to be the most likely to leave permanently in the coming months.
Roma wants to sign Llorente for £4.3 million, then sell him to PSG for £10 million.
This week, Italian magazine Metropolitan Magazine stated that Serie A club Roma is interested in signing Diego Llorente on a permanent basis very soon.
According to the source, it is more or less a formality for the Spaniard to stay put after his loan period, signing a permanent contract for a sum of £4.3 million.
What is intriguing is that PSG is also believed to pursue the defender intensively, which might result in Roma purchasing the defender and quickly selling him for up to £10 million.
PSG manager Luis Enrique is a fan of his countrymen, having awarded Llorente his most recent international cap when managing Spain.
Leeds’ prospects of selling Llorente increased dramatically recently.
If Leeds are not promoted to the Premier League this season, the sale of those loan players could be critical for the club to break even financially.
Selling star players is usually the result of failing to be promoted, but Llorente bringing in roughly £5 million on top of the other players is a welcome boost for the 49ers.
Leeds’ prospects of selling look to be almost definite, especially given this story, which says that Roma also has a financial incentive to complete a deal as soon as possible.
It is hardly the highest fee Leeds could have received for the centre-back, but at 30, he will not attract a high price.
