Leicester City midfielder Harry Winks has discussed his team’s trip to Leeds United tonight.
The Championship’s top two teams will face off under the Elland Road lights in what is often regarded as the biggest game of the season in the entire division.
Leicester are presently nine points ahead of Leeds going into the game, but a win for the Whites may see them brought back into the race for the top two, after being so far ahead all season.
Leeds won 1-0 in the return encounter at the King Power Stadium in November, and were by and away the better team on the night, limiting Leicester to just one effort on goal, which came in stoppage time.
Winks told lcfc.com that Leicester are mindful of Leeds’ dangers and expects a good game in West Yorkshire this evening.
Winks is cautious of Leeds’ threat.
He stated, “We know they’re a good team, and regardless of their run, we understand the threats they pose and how they may harm us. We need to be aware of this.
“We also know we can hurt them, so we must focus on what we can do while keeping their qualities and strengths in mind.” We need to prepare thoroughly, but it should be a good game.”
Leicester are clearly aware of Leeds’ key strength, which is their ability to counterattack. Earlier this season, Leeds manager Enzo Maresca stated the club was the best in the Championship during transition.
Leeds have plenty of pace in the final third, thanks to players like Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter, who have been ready to expose defenders all season with their link-up play.
However, Leicester certainly has several strengths of their own. The Foxes excel at maintaining possession and sustaining assaults, which is why Ipswich Town’s Conor Chaplin believes they are the greatest team in the division.
