Leeds United will complete the Championship season with 94 points, according to the most recent Supercomputer projections.
The Athletic has shared the predictions, claiming on its website on Thursday (22 February) that Leicester City will finish first with 103 points. Leeds are expected to finish second, with Ipswich Town third and Southampton fourth.
“Opta estimates that Leicester will finish on about 103 points, Leeds on 94, Ipswich on 91 and Southampton on 90,” the newspaper reported.
Can Leeds United keep their good Championship form?
So far, it’s been another roller-coaster Championship season, with four clubs supposedly vying for first place. However, Leicester are cruising to first place, with the Foxes presently leading with 78 points.
The Whites and the Tractor Boys are their closest opponents, with both clubs on 69 points, with the latter now firmly back on track following a difficult period.
The former have been fairly consistent for some time now, with Daniel Farke’s team winning after winning. However, Southampton has struggled with consistency, dropping to fourth place after a run of mediocre results.
With Leicester having basically claimed the league title, it will be fascinating to observe how the next three positions shake out in the coming months.
The trio of Leeds, Ipswich, and Southampton may not have given up on first place just yet, but the automatic promotion slots will undoubtedly be their aim now.
