Shay Given gave his opinion on Nottingham Forest player Anthony Elanga after the Reds defeated West Ham 2-0 at the City Ground.
On Saturday night, the commentator spoke with Match of the Day. So, what exactly did Given say regarding Forest forward Elanga? Let’s look more closely.
What Shay Given said about Anthony Elanga during Forest’s win.
Even though he finished with an unplanned assist, the Swedish international’s day was not very remarkable.
Callum Hudson-Odoi scored the second Forest goal after Neco Williams’ cross ricocheted off Elanga and into the winger’s path.
His overall play was actually quite strong, but it’s fair to say that the guy was not wearing his shooting boots.
Given saw this as well, and after showing a clip of multiple misses, he issued his verdict on Elanga.
He said Match of the Day: “Elanga will probably not want to watch Match of the Day tonight. He missed a lot of opportunities in this one!”
Elanga will bounce back from the West Ham affair.
In our opinion, this is nothing to be concerned about, and Elanga is probably destined for a wasted game against Forest!
He missed some good opportunities over the weekend, but it didn’t matter because Forest won three points.
The 21-year-old is still learning and will have days like Saturday.
Elanga has been an excellent addition for Forest since joining from Manchester United for £15 million in the summer.
He has five goals and seven assists this season and is a key member of Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.
