Premier League record holder could join Newcastle United as £33m request made

Newcastle United have been linked with another Premier League star with qualities Eddie Howe will love.

The summer transfer window is almost upon us, and Newcastle United fans are excited to see what deals sporting director Paul Mitchell has cooked up for Eddie Howe’s side.

Newcastle took a cautious approach to the summer window, with departures taking priority over any arrivals due to the club’s ongoing battle with PSR.

The Magpies are now in a position where they have money to spend following the departures of Miguel Almiron and Lloyd Kelly, the latter of whom is set to complete a permanent move to Juventus in the summer if they qualify for Europe.

Newcastle need to improve several positions in the summer, Howe and Mitchell will both know that is the case if they want the club to consistently fight for silverware and the Champions League spots. Fans will hope that Newcastle’s Carabao Cup win and subsequent qualification for Europe will also be a big kicker in their efforts to land their dream targets.

Reports suggest that Newcastle want to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth in the summer, having missed out on him in 2024.

With Mitchell preparing for what is expected to be a busy summer, Newcastle have now been linked to another Bournemouth star who has been integral to the Cherries’ rise up the Premier League table.

Newcastle United linked with Bournemouth’s Dango Ouattara

Bournemouth ace Dango Ouattara has been a big part of Andoni Iraola’s starting XI this season, playing 30 games in all competitions.

The Cherries find themselves 10th in the Premier League table this season following a minor drop-off in form before the international break, but they can still qualify for the Champions League this season if results pick back up.

Ouattara is predominantly a left-sided player, with the 23-year-old able to play as both a winger and wing-back. However, the Burkina Faso international has also played as a right-winger and centre-forward this season, with the former an area Newcastle are desperate for more depth in.

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Newcastle are interested in a potential deal for Ouattara this summer. The report suggests that a deal will not be straightforward, with Aston Villa, AC Milan and Napoli all keen on the star with 11 goal involvement in the Premier League this season.

The report claims that Bournemouth could accept offers in the region of €40m (£33m) for Ouattara, a fee the Magpies should be able to afford.

Ouattara became a record holder in the Premier League this season by becoming the first player from Burkina Faso to score a hat-trick in the competition when he helped his side to a 5-0 win against Nottingham Forest in January.

Dango Ouattara previously involved in controversial Newcastle United decision

Newcastle have not had the best luck against Bournemouth this season, drawing at the Vitality Stadium in August before being thrashed at St James’ Park in January.

However, Bournemouth should have done the double over the Magpies this season and were only denied it by a huge VAR call late in the game.

Ouattara thought he had scored the winner in the latter stages of the game when he nodded home from a corner. VAR then ruled out the goal for an apparent handball, but replays showed the ball looked to have come off his shoulder rather than his arm.

Alan Shearer said Newcastle were ‘lucky‘ that they were able to go back to Tyneside with a point, labelling the decision as ‘awful’.

Ouattara would get his own back when Bournemouth came to St James’ Park, however, the 23-year-old bagged an assist to help his side to a 4-1 win.
