Yasir Al-Rumayyan makes exciting new promise to Newcastle United fans in wake of Carabao Cup final win

The Newcastle United owners have won their first major prize since taking over the club.

PIF took over Newcastle United in October 2021, and in less than four years, they ended a seven-generation drought to bring silverware back to St James’ Park.

Newcastle are the Carabao Cup champions. That had never been uttered before, and the club had never won the League Cup in its 133-year history until Sunday, March 16, 2025.

Newcastle United’s owners have great aspirations for the club, and this was most likely only the beginning.

PIF intends to transform Newcastle into one of the world’s biggest clubs, and winning the Carabao Cup final was the ideal way to get things started.

Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan sent an exciting message following the game, demonstrating the club’s ambitions.

The full-time whistle brought with it both scenes of jubilation and relief in equal measure. Newcastle fully deserved their victory but a late mistake from Bruno Guimaraes allowed Federico Chiesa to score and make things nervy heading into the final few minutes.

However, Eddie Howe’s side got over the line and more than deserved their victory.

The chairman was spotted in a video posted on social media holding the Carabao Cup aloft in front of the supporters on the Wembley pitch and heard saying: “That’s the first and it’s not going to be the last!”

PIF figures past and present celebrate as Newcastle Untied win Carabao Cup final

It was an historic day in the club’s history, so naturally figures from their past and present were there in celebration.
Indeed, former directors Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Amanda Staveley celebrated Newcastle’s win at Wembley, declaring their “dream” for the club had come true.
While there is clearly no guarantee of success for any club, it’s difficult to imagine this being the last final at least Newcastle get to in the incoming years. That’s already two under PIF’s ownership and, PSR restrictions aside, they do not appear to be going anywhere.

The best part of it all is that this is just the start.
