LeBron James and Luka Doncic Make Lakers History in Win Over Pelicans

At this point in LeBron James’ illustrious career, every game appears to be an opportunity for him to create history. Entering Tuesday’s home game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Orleans Pelicans, James was one point away from being the first player in NBA history to reach 50,000 points.

James not only scored one point, but he also made history twice on Tuesday night. This time, he made extra room in the spotlight for his new partner in crime, Luka Doncic.

James and Doncic made Lakers history together, inside Crypto.com arena, in their 136-115 win over the Pelicans.

James and Doncic became the first Lakers teammates to score at least 30 points and make five three-pointers in the same game. James finished with 34 points and five three-pointers, while Doncic scored 30 points and nailed six threes.

Given the number of Hall-of-Fame players who have worn the Lakers uniform, it’s astonishing that this achievement has never been completed in the franchise’s history.

It’s also incredible to think that just two weeks ago, fans were ripping Doncic to shreds on social media for his struggles on the court in his first three games with the Lakers. Doncic has more than adjusted to his new team as well as playing alongside James. Doncic is averaging 25.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 8.8 assists over his last six games (including one triple-double).

Behind James and Doncic’s historic night, the Lakers have now won seven consecutive games and sit in the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference with a 39-21 record.
