The FA will examine Sheffield United following an incident that occurred during Leeds’ 3-1 victory at Bramall Lane, according to Keith Hackett.
The Whites fell behind in the vital Championship battle on Monday, but goals from Junior Firpo, Ao Tanaka, and Joel Piroe helped Leeds secure another huge three points.
Following Tanaka’s second goal, footage emerged of security having to keep Leeds players away from an enraged Sheffield United fan who almost entered the pitch.
The FA will investigate the Sheffield United incident.
Hackett confirms that the footage will be reviewed, with the Ground Safety Officer and Police monitoring the occurrence after Leeds’ triumph.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, the former FIFA referee and PGMOL chief believes the incident will be investigated thoroughly.
“The FA if they see this film clip of the Sheffield United supporter will be investigating and asking why this supporter was allowed onto the perimeter of the field of play,” added Hackett.
“I am confident that the club’s Ground Safety Officer and the Chief of Police will evaluate this incident and determine what they can learn from this highly charged confrontation.
“Generally, the fans were well-behaved.”
Leeds United heading to the Premier League.
Daniel Farke appeared somber and humble following the victory at Bramall Lane, but he will be aware that his team has one foot back in the Premier League.
Leeds, who are five points ahead of Sheffield United and seven ahead of Burnley, must not waste this opportunity again, with their sights firmly set on last season.
Regarding the predicted crowd trouble at Bramall Lane, nothing appeared to happen, and a Yorkshire derby is likely to produce a particular atmosphere with little, if any, punishment.
Leeds face West Bromwich Albion at Elland Road on March 1, with an early kickoff providing them the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Championship.
