Boyd is focused on the here and now with takeover excitement stored until managerial situation is sorted
Kris Boyd thinks Philippe Clement is zapping the energy from Rangers and has proclaimed it’s time up with the Ibrox team at their lowest moment.
The Belgian himself judged the 2-0 home defeat to St Mirren as the worst of his rule. And Boyd is sure that the moment has come for change in the dugout, regardless of when it occurs in the boardroom, as 49er Enterprises’ takeover approaches. He stated, “The players must accept responsibility for their on-field performances, but they appear to be lacking confidence, ideas, and a game plan. The manager appears to be an energy zapper.
“The excitement has gone from the stands and from the players on the field. Even when you see the personnel at games, there is no sense of ‘I’m at Rangers Football Club and I’m glad to be here.’ It’s like they’re going through the motions. That stems from the desire for a leader, someone at the top.
“It’s reached its lowest point. We’re used to Philippe Clement making excuses; he seemed beaten yesterday. “It’s time.”
With the benefit of hindsight, Boyd believes he can make sense of CEO Patrick Stewart’s recent interviews, and that the Americans have been embedded within the club for some time, determining what has to be done. He continued, “This week has been vital for the Rangers. There is no doubt that they needed to locate investors. When you reflect on what has occurred this week, it is simple to look back and begin to piece things together.
As for Saturday’s showing, Boyd repeated the same message that he’s been peddaling for a while now, telling Sky Sports: “You’re going to have to pay Philippe Clement off anyway. It’s reached the point that it needs to be done now.
“I’ve been saying it for months and everybody goes ‘aw here he goes again, he’s having a go’ – this has been on the decline for months. You only need to look at the players. Yes, they need to shoulder some responsibility but there is no style of play.
