After their spot in the bracket was secured, Liverpool learned their fate for the Champions League round of 16 and onwards, potentially resulting in a semi-final matchup with Real Madrid.
After winning the competition’s new league phase, Arne Slot’s team was rewarded with a matchup with Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16.
The dates will be revealed later. The two sides will now play each other in a two-leg match for a spot in the quarterfinal. The second leg will be held at Anfield on March 11–12.
But the Reds’ destiny for the following round and their path to the May 31 final in Munich were both decided by Friday’s draw.
The complete Champions League bracket for Liverpool
Club Brugge or Aston Villa in the quarterfinals
Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid or PSV Eindhoven vs. Arsenal in the semifinals
Instead of teams being drawn at random all the way to the semi-final, the competition’s new format places them in a bracket.
Being in the blue or silver side of the bracket indicates that a possible path can be plotted. Liverpool ended up in the second half.
Liverpool is headed for a collision with Club Brugge or Aston Villa in the quarterfinals and possibly Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, PSV, or Arsenal in the semi-finals after being drawn against PSG in the round of 16.
However, because they are on the other side of the bracket, the Reds cannot play teams like Barcelona or Bayern Munich until the Munich final.
Slot’s team will play the first leg of the quarterfinal and the second leg of the semi-final at Anfield if they advance. In addition, they would be the final’s official home team.
