Leeds United’s lengthy pursuit of a Championship player concludes here. He is not going on deadline day.
Leeds United appear to have various options ahead of the 11 p.m. transfer deadline, as a number of players have been linked.
Cameron Archer appears to be Daniel Farke’s top priority at the moment, as the club has yet to add a single player during the January transfer window.
Southampton are likely to acquire Victor Udoh, which might allow Archer to move to Elland Road. And Farke may be especially interested in Archer after learning the latest on Mike Tresor.
Mike Tresor has been ruled out of the Burnley exodus, amid links to Leeds United.
Leeds United have been connected to Tresor for several weeks. The Belgian attacking midfielder appears to be out of favour at Turf Moor, having not made a single league appearance for Scott Parker’s side this season.
Parker also gave Tresor permission to depart Burnley before the deadline. Despite this, a new claim from Burney Express has all but ruled out a deadline-day exit for the 25-year-old, with a ‘surprise’ transfer to Leeds appearing increasingly unlikely.
Journalist Matt Scrafton writes: “In Tresor’s case, it’s also understood that – despite his recent outing against Reading in the FA Cup – he’s currently not fit to play, making a departure unlikely.”
The latest on Cameron Archer’s move to Leeds United
With a move for Tresor seemingly out of the question, Leeds can focus solely on a deal for Archer, with the door seemingly open following claims that Southampton are likely to sign Udoh.
It was known that Southampton wanted to strengthen their frontline before considering an exit for Archer, which they have now done, albeit without formal confirmation.
If Leeds can complete a deal for the 23-year-old Saints player, it will be a very pleasant conclusion to an otherwise disappointing transfer window for the Whites.
