Nottingham Forest resumed their winning ways with a 7-0 victory over Brighton at the City Ground.
Bournemouth beat the Reds 5-0 last weekend. As a result, several sceptics believed that the bubble had burst, but yesterday’s performance demonstrated that this is not the case.
Forest will now shift their focus to strengthening the team. A lot of players are being considered ahead of the transfer deadline, and it will be interesting to see what Forest can do.
Of course, many connections will lead nowhere. Now, a player who has been associated with Forest for the past month appears to be joining a Championship club rather than waiting for the Reds to swoop.
Marcus Edwards chooses to sign with Championship club.
Edwards has been linked with Forest during the January transfer window. However, Fabrizio Romano claims that he is set to sign with Burnley as they attempt to boost their promotion hopes.
The Reds had wanted to sign Edwards and expand their alternatives on the left side of the pitch. The Sporting CP player has fallen out of favour in Portugal, so a return to England was always on the cards.
Edwards appears to be on his way to Burnley as the club seeks immediate promotion back to the Premier League, with Scott Parker hoping to complete the deal before the transfer deadline.
Romano posted: More information on the Marcus Edwards to Burnley exclusive story. A verbal agreement was reached with Sporting and agreed by the player, Scott Parker essential, as reported. Loan move for €1 million, €12 million obligation to buy subject to certain conditions, and a 10% sell-on clause. Here we go.
Forest faces a challenge to bring new faces across the line.
Edwards may have been a decent addition to the squad before the transfer deadline. However, he has already signed for Burnley, and Forest will have to wait to see who they can get over the line.
After a 7-0 thrashing, Forest doesn’t need anyone. However, with 14 matches remaining, it would be ideal if the squad could add at least one more forward to its ranks by deadline day.
Edwards was a talented player at Tottenham, and his form at Sporting has not gone unnoticed. However, it’s a shame Forest hasn’t worked more to sign a guy who appears to match the characteristics of a Reds player well.
The transfer window is closing soon, and the pressure is on Forest to complete a deal before everything comes to a halt.
