Leeds United are embroiled in a number of transfer squabbles as the season closes, with Daniel Farke reportedly eyeing a handful of new signings.
It’s not like Leeds United are in a crisis and need to make a slew of players before the transfer deadline, but they could use some new faces.
Daniel Farke has led the Whites to first place in the Championship, but they are only two points ahead of second-place Sheffield United.
Interestingly, the Leeds manager did hint to the 49ers about signing a number 10, but it appears that the club has its sights set on other positions.
Due to Junior Firpo’s condition, the Whites appear to be seeking for a left-back, with a Premier League player now on their radar.
Leeds United wants Matt Targett to replace Junior Firpo.
Junior Firpo has previously been linked with a move to Real Betis, but the situation has now calmed down.
However, that did not prevent Leeds from reportedly looking for a successor, with Matt Targett the subject of an apparent departure from the Whites.
According to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, Betis isn’t the only Spanish club interested in the defense right now; Real Sociedad is as well.
“I expect Matt Target to leave. I haven’t really put anything out there yet, but I was told yesterday that there had been some negotiations with Leeds, but Leeds were waiting to see what was going on with their left back Junior Firpos.
“Real Sociedad has expressed an interest in him. If Firpo leaves, Targett may be a replacement, but Firpo remains a Leeds player.
“I’ve also been told Southampton and Watford are interested in Matt Target. I was also told a few weeks back that Leicester were interested.”
Leeds United’s approach for Matt Targett is played down.
Matt Targett’s transfer to Leeds United was widely assumed to be finalized, however Graham Smyth shed some light on the matter.
He stated.
Leeds insiders have reacted with ‘bafflement’ to the allegation that they are closing in on Targett as a January signing, stating that they are opposed to any real interest due to their present full-back alternatives.
The defender, who earns £100k per week (Capology), appears to have been in talks, but no deal has been concluded.
