If Nottingham Forest manages to finish in the top four of the Premier League, they could exceed their predicted profits for the season.
That is the opinion of finance specialist Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the club could be over £20 million over budget for the season.
Forest have had a fantastic season so far, sitting third in the Premier League table after 23 games.
However, following their 5-0 defeat against Bournemouth, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side is now only three points ahead of Newcastle United in fifth place.
Forest’s latest records for 2022-23 revealed a club record revenue of £155 million, with a wage bill of £145 million.

Borson revealed that qualifying for the Champions League will benefit the club’s finances after they received a points deduction last season for violating the profit and sustainability criteria (PSR).
“They were close for 2023-24,” Borson told Football Insider.
“If you were close for 2023-24, you are almost surely close for 2024-25 because they have a large pay bill in comparison to their revenue.
“Obviously, the Champions League makes a difference.
“It’s more than just qualifying for the Champions League; you’re moving up the rankings.
“If they finish in the top four, I believe they will outperform their expectations.
“They presumably budgeted for 10th place, therefore they are probably going to be £20 million over budget.
“But on the reverse side, you have to pay all of the players’ bonuses for qualifying for the Champions League, which I believe is close to £20 million.
“It could be £10million.”
