Liverpool are yet to sign anyone during January but could clinch deals for players heading in and out of Anfield before the end of the transfer window as they pursue Premier League glory
Less than a week remains of the tranfer window and there is still work to be done for Liverpool.
The Reds are soaring high in the Premier League and Europe, but they have yet to invest in reinforcements to strengthen their bid for silverware in Arne Slot’s first season in command at Anfield. There has been no movement in the first-team squad since the Dutchman arrived in the summer.
Thomas Hill has moved on a free transfer to Harrogate Town, Marcelo Pitaluga has left for Fluminense, and Calvin Ramsey has joined Kilmarnock until the end of the season. There has been no progress for the senior team since Federico Chiesa’s signing in the summer.
There is still time to complete transactions. Mirror Football looks at the club’s newest news and transfer rumours.
Liverpool is interested in a wing-back
Slavia Prague manager Jaroslav Tvrdik has claimed that Liverpool and Chelsea are among the clubs interested in signing winger El Hadji Malick Diouf.
Crystal Palace has made two bids for the 20-year-old, with Tvrdik saying the Eagles rejected a second approach for roughly £14.3 million. The Senegal international may yet attract interest from Brighton, but Slavia Prague’s chairman has stated that an offer from Liverpool could persuade the club to sell the player.
Slavia is not under any rush to sell this month, having already lost Antonin Kinsky to Tottenham and winger Matej Jurasek to Norwich City.
Tvrdik told media source Kudy Bezi Zajic: “If Liverpool and Chelsea, who were also interested in him, had made an offer of roughly 17-18 million euros, I would have hesitated to handle it differently in terms of marketing the club or the player’s interest.
“If Chelsea comes, we will not keep anyone. Nothing will change; it is simply not feasible objectively. One must accept that the Czech League and Slavia have some limitations.
“Even PSG, when it comes to breaking the bank, will not keep their player and will send him to Real. We’re part of a football chain, but not at the top.”
The deal is almost done.
According to reports, Las Palmas is in ‘the process of concluding’ a deal for Stefan Bajcetic. According to Atlantico Hoy, the midfielder, who is presently on loan at Red Bull Salzburg from Liverpool, could have his time in Austria cut short in order to move to La Liga.
Liverpool is thought to be seeking for a new club to help Bajcetic develop, with the La Liga side facing competition from Celta Vigo and Real Betis. The former may have an edge because Bajcetic was born in Vigo and trained at Celta Vigo’s academy before joining Liverpool.
The 20-year-old joined Salzburg in the summer, when former Liverpool coach Pep Lijnders was in charge. Bajcetic has made 18 appearances this season, alternating as substitute and starter.
‘Concrete’ Interest
Liverpool are said to have ‘solid interest’ in forward Anis Hadj Moussa, but they face competition from Lille. The 22-year-old joined the Dutch club following Slot’s departure.
Following Edon Zhegrova’s injury, the French side wants Moussa this month, but the Reds prefer to make an approach in the summer. Feyenoord is reportedly barring the Algerian’s leave till the end of the season.
