The Reds are rumored to have submitted a massive proposal ahead of the January transfer window deadline.
Botafogo forward Igor Jesus is alleged to have rejected a move to Nottingham Forest.
According to Globo Esporte, the Reds made a 30 million Euro proposal for the 23-year-old Brazilian, but Jesus turned down the transfer to the City Ground.
Botafogo found the bid ‘intriguing’, but Jesus’ attitude put an end to any negotiations. It is believed that the pay on offer did not appeal to Jesus, who considers that sticking at Botafogo is presently the best option for his career.
Forest were first linked with Jesus at the end of last year as he made his debut for his national team. Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Brentford and Brighton and Hove Albion were also credited with eyeing him up at the time.
Forest already have a strong Brazilian contingent at the City Ground as they have Danilo, Carlos Miguel, Morato and Murillo on the books.
Strengthening head coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s resources at the top end of the pitch is likely to be on the agenda for the Reds in January. They tried to sign a striker in the summer but did not manage to get a deal over the line before the August 30 deadline.
