Liverpool will face AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League, and they expect a tough battle.
Andoni Iraola has vowed that AFC Bournemouth’s playing style would not alter when they face Liverpool in a seismic match.
Both clubs are in rampaging form and punching above where many expected them to be at the start of the season. Liverpool leads the Premier League table by six points after a 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town. Bournemouth’s shocking 5-0 demolition of third-placed Nottingham Forest brought them within one point of the Champions League positions.
This season, the Cherries have beaten second-placed Arsenal and champions Manchester City at home. Arne Slot’s men will undoubtedly have a tough test on the south coast as they attempt to overcome Bournemouth’s tricky man-for-man playing style.
However, Iraola’s team is dealing with injury problems heading into the contest. They are currently missing a large number of players, including crucial players Evanilson and Luis Sinisterra. However, the Cherries manager has announced that his team would want to take the game to league leaders Liverpool.
Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, Iraola said: “We knew we were up against a really good squad on a terrific run. To score first was critical. They’ve won most of their recent games in the first half. The goal at the start helped us and made the game appear more appealing to us.
“I believe we will not change. We’re taking the games one by one. Our next stop is Liverpool. We are short on players, therefore we strive to recoup them for that game. There are still plenty of games to play. I will not change our strategy.
“I hope they [the fans] are enjoying. It’s always challenging when you are in the Premier League. You are up against the best teams in the country. The guys are giving their all and getting great outcomes. There will be occasions when we do not do this. I believe our supporters understand this, and they love it not only when we win, but also when we give our all. And that’s what we strive to achieve.”
