Tottenham Hotspur may say goodbye to one of its midfielders in the coming days.
Spurs’ Giovani Lo Celso has been linked with a move away due to his limited playing time under Ange Postecoglou this season.
According to the Turkish publication Aksam, Galatasaray is close to signing the Argentine midfielder, with Turkey’s transfer window open until Friday, February 9th.
According to the article, conversations with Tottenham are underway, and the player is ‘also positive’ about joining the Turkish club.
It has been stated that the Super Lig team has already prepared the No. 10 jersey for Lo Celso’s probable arrival, and all that remains is for the two clubs to reach an agreement.
The aggressive midfielder has failed to find regular playing time for Spurs, making only ten Premier League appearances.
Despite his limited appearances, Lo Celso has made an impression, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
The 27-year-old’s injury history hasn’t helped his cause, either, as he’s missed ten games for the club this season owing to hamstring and muscle ailments.
Tottenham signed Lo Celso on a season-long loan from Real Betis in the summer of 2019, making the signing permanent in January of the following year for a cost of £27.2 million.
The former PSG midfielder has made 96 appearances for North London, scoring ten goals and assisting eight times.
With Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison, Hojbjerg, Bissouma, and Pape Matar Sarr as midfield alternatives for Postecoglou, Lo Celso appears to be on his way out.
