It has been a long time coming, but the talisman appears to be here to stay. According to The Athletic, Wood, who has 14 goals this season, has reached an agreement with Forest for a new two-year contract.
Wood joined Forest for £15 million in January 2023. Initially, the move was met with some criticism from the fan base, who felt he was past his prime and wondered what he would add to the Forest squad.
However, he has exceeded expectations at City Ground. Wood is now the club’s all-time top goalscorer in the Premier League and ultimately, he’s proved absolutely everyone who dared to write him off wrong.
Wood is due to sign a two-year deal with the club, with an announcement expected soon. Wood has drawn interest from Saudi Arabia and the MLS, but it appears that his career will stay at the highest level for another two years.
Forest need a striker to work alongside Wood.
The fact that Wood is staying shouldn’t deter Forest in their quest for a new striker. At 33 years old, the Reds player will still need to rotate, and Taiwo Awoniyi’s form is currently in question.
