Alex Lowry has issued an emotional message to Rangers fans after confirming his move to Wycombe Wanderers.

The 21-year-old joined the League One club on Tuesday (January 21), after failing to play a single Scottish Premiership game this season.

With the midfielder’s contract scheduled to end in the summer [The Scottish Sun], the Gers have decided to sell the academy product, who has now sent an emotional parting message on Instagram (January 21).

He stated, “After 14 years at a place I called home, it’s time to move on. I’d want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in the club, from the laundry crew to the kitmen to the canteen workers and everyone else; your assistance and time from the day I came to the day I departed was invaluable!

“It has been an honor to represent this club, and I would like to thank Giovanni Van Bronckhorst and his staff for allowing me to make my Rangers debut at the age of 18 and fulfill a boyhood goal of mine!

“Last but not least, thank you to the fans for your incredible support from the moment I broke through until now; I’ve valued every bit of it and enjoyed playing in front of you, whether at home or away!
Again, thank you, and best wishes in the future!

    “We are the people!”

The Scotland Under-21 international is a Light Blues fan and will be greatly missed in Govan for that reason.

Supporters want to see more of their own players start at Ibrox on a weekly basis, but this hasn’t happened in recent years.

It appears that Patrick Stewart and others are interested in working on this, but this transfer does not appear to be a step in the right direction.

Lowry certainly has happy recollections of his time with the Gers, despite only making 14 first-team games since his debut in the 2021/22 season.

Despite making 17 appearances on loan with Hearts, the midfielder has never been given the opportunity to establish himself in the first team at G51.

As a result, a move away makes sense for all parties, but it does not diminish the emotion of a long-time fan moving on.
