Nottingham Forest have looked at adding Brazilian forward Luiz Henrique to their ranks during the January transfer window.

It’s no secret that the Reds are interested at adding a striker this month. Another South American has been linked to Forest’s plan to take Igor Jesus before the opportunity closes.

Nottingham Forest are performing well in the Premier League this season. Following Tuesday’s draw against Liverpool, the team remains third in the league table and will face bottom club Southampton on Sunday.

Nottingham Forest News has received additional information about Forest’s attempts to sign a striker during the transfer window, with Henrique among those considered.

Nottingham Forest has shown interest in Luiz Henrique.

According to Graeme Bailey, the Brazilian attacker is on the Reds’ shortlist, although a signing this month is improbable.

He told us, “Forest informed me they were looking at possible forwards, but if the perfect forward came up, quality would win out over quantity.

“I think they looked at Jesus and Henrique in Brazil but I don’t think they were too bothered about them this month, and didn’t think they’d improve too much on what they’ve got now.”

Henrique planned to move forward with confidence this month. He appeared in 76 games across all competitions last season, spending the second half in Europe with Real Betis.

When he returned to Botafogo, he helped them win the Brazilian title for the first time in their history, scoring 13 goals and assisting nine times between the two clubs.

In December, he won the South American Ballon d’Or for his efforts for the champions, and the prestigious award will most likely increase the value of his transfer fee when the time comes for him to leave.

The club’s need for a striker could grow in the coming weeks. Awoniyi has been connected with West Ham, and negotiations are now underway between the two clubs.

It’s fascinating that things are beginning to heat up in that regard. Forest would not let Awoniyi depart without finding a replacement, and leaving 33-year-old Chris Wood as the sole striker would not be ideal.

Forest may not want to take a chance on Henrique this month. Although, at 24, he has a lot of promise, he plays more as a winger at a time when the Reds desperately need a striker.
