‘We have looked’: Manager confirms ‘pretty good’ A Leeds United player is on their January ‘list’ of targets

Patrick Bamford’s days at Leeds United may likely be numbered, with the striker failing for form and struggling to remain fit in this 2024/25 Championship campaign.

Patrick Bamford has long been a contentious figure among Leeds United supporters. One who frequently differs in viewpoint, but who has always had a goal or two in mind. In 198 appearances with the Whites, he has scored 68 goals.

Before the January transfer window, it was revealed that Wrexham and Genoa were interested in Bamford. Since then, Wrexham’s interest in Bamford has waned, with the League One contenders unable to meet his current salary.

More recently, it’s been revealed that Leeds’ top six rivals Blackburn Rovers are keen on Bamford. John Eustace’s Blackburn held Leeds United on New Year’s Day in another frustrating game against for Daniel Farke against the former Birmingham City boss.

Rovers currently sit in 7th place of the Championship table compared to Leeds in 1st. As things stand, 14 points separate the two teams.

Eustace has finally spoken about his team’s alleged interest in Bamford. And, unlike what managers generally say in these situations, Eustace has stated that Blackburn Rovers have considered Bamford for the January transfer window.

However, Eustace seems to imply that Bamford’s future at Leeds United might not be so black and white, suggesting that ‘you’d have to ask’ Leeds about a prospective move for the 31-year-old during the winter window.

Eustace told the Lancashire Telegraph: “Patrick is a very good footballer; I played with him at Derby many years ago when he first started out.

“He’s a consistent performer at this level, and he plays for a big club like Leeds. But there will be a lot of names thrown at me, and I will just say they’re good players.

“You’d need to ask the club. He’s on a long list of players we’ve looked at, so we’ll see.”

Daniel Farke’s latest stance on Patrick Bamford revealed

As first revealed by Leeds United News, Leeds United have shown interest in Emmanuel Latte Lath at Middlesbrough. However, the striker is reportedly targeted by Atlanta United in a rumored £16million deal.

Since the announcement of the MLS side’s interest in Latte Lath, it’s been claimed that Leeds won’t pursue a deal for Latte Lath and that Farke is content with his present striking options in Joel Piroe, Mateo Joseph, and Bamford, with Joe Gelhardt due to join Hull City on loan.

So Bamford may be retained for the second half of the season, and after Gelhardt departs and Bamford regains fitness, the long-serving striker could play a crucial role in the Whites’ promotion quest.
