According to Ross McCormack, Rangers may need to pay Philippe Clement £7.5 million to sack him.
Gers are 15 points behind champions Celtic, although CEO Patrick Stewart has publicly said that the club supports him.
The Ibrox outfit have struggled on the road this season and despite thumping the Hoops 3-0 at home, they have failed to make that win count.
McCormack, a BBC pundit, told Open Goal on January 13 at 34:18. “£2.5 million per year, and he has three years left, so if they sack him, they will have to pay him £7.5 million. They’re going to have to pay millions to sack him. They cannot afford to do it.”
Rangers are paying for their own sins by sacking Philippe Clement
£7.5 million, which explains why the board has delayed to act.
However, they can only blame themselves for giving him a long-term contract in the summer.
There was no need to commit to him for years because his contract had not yet expired.
If he had miraculously turned things around last season and won the league for the Gers, it would be reasonable and entirely justified.
However, there were no clear signs of development last season, and this time around, the Ibrox outfit has taken a few steps back.
If they are serious about leaving Clement, they will need to meet with his representatives and negotiate a lower fee.
