Ibrox View: Rangers fans will be ecstatic at the latest Clement job news

Rangers fans may have their wish granted if Philippe Clement is appointed by Belgium.

The 50-year-old has irritated some fans, since the club is 15 points behind arch-rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

However, CEO Patrick Stewart promised the former Monaco player that his career at Ibrox was secure as long as results improved.

Supporters of Clement’s removal may have the last laugh, according to an update from Johan Boskamp, who offered an update on the Belgium position with the Glasgow Times on January 13th. “I am sure Philippe Clement’s name has certainly been discussed.”

Clement hanging on Rangers, for now

Stewart provided guarantees about Clement’s job security earlier this week, but this may alter if performance do not improve.

His team has won only two of their past six matches, and the pressure on his future remains intense.

Some fans walked out of the 3-1 win over St. Johnstone on 13 January in the 55th minute to protest the Ibrox club’s management and the decision on the Belgian’s future.

Those acts have divided the fans, with supporters who left being booed by those who remained in the stadium, as well as criticism from Chris Sutton on BBC Radio 5 live (12 January).

There has been little to suggest that Clement will be able to turn the situation at Ibrox around and catch up to the Hoops anytime soon and once a manager loses the fans, it is usually game over.

The idea of Clement falling upwards and managing his national team is utterly ridiculous given his struggles with the Light Blues.
