Nottingham Forest defeated Wolves 3-0 at Molineux, making it six wins in a row for the rampaging Reds.
Nuno Espirito Santo gave his former club nightmares with his solid counter-attacking style, which caught Vitor Pereira off guard.
Wolves had improved under the Portuguese manager, but he was no match for a confident Forest side.
After the game, Jamie Carragher praised Morgan Gibbs-White, who opened the scoring with a well-taken goal after seven minutes.
Callum Hudson-Odoi then set up Chris Wood before halftime, who scored his 13th goal of the 2024/25 season.
Taiwo Awoniyi sealed the win with his first of the season, capping off another successful night for Forest.
Jeff Stelling’s assessment on the huge VAR call in Wolves vs. Forest
It wouldn’t be a proper Premier League season without some kind of VAR decision going against Forest.
Last night, with the score 1-0, Rayan Ait-Nouri appeared to handle an Ola Aina cross in the box, but the VAR did not recommend an on-field review for Peter Bankes.
Jeff Stelling was furious at the call and wrote on X, “One of the worst decisions I’ve seen all season!!”
In the end, it did not cost Forest anything, but it appeared to be a blatant and evident error, and it appeared that the referee would be summoned to the screen.
Handball rule has to be changed for the good of world football.
This decision was a farce, and the handball law has simply become unsustainable.
Although last night’s verdict was not the worst Forest has ever received, claiming that Ait-Nouri’s arm is in a natural position is simply incorrect.
The Premier League issued a statement following the game claiming that his arm was in a normal position.
However, video clearly indicate that the ball struck Ait-Nouri as he attempted to lift his arm into a natural posture and get it out of the way.
In real time, it appeared to be a clear penalty, and you can bet that if it had been one of the league’s conventional big six, the review would have taken much longer.
Thankfully, it did not cost Forest on this occasion, but for the sake of the game, the powers that be must consider this.
