Leeds United return to Championship action against Hull City at the KCM Stadium, just three days after their dramatic 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers.
The Whites will have to respond to a painful stalemate at Elland Road, where they lost two points due to a late Danny Batth goal, and benefit on their promotion rivals’ recent poor form.
In the opposite encounter against Hull City, it turned out to be a pretty straightforward 2-0 win in the end for Leeds, courtesy of second-half goals from Mateo Joseph, and Joel Piroe who scored from the bench.
After Blackburn’s draw, Daniel Farke was compelled to make a Sam Byram substitution.
Despite Farke’s desire to have Sam Byram available, the Leeds manager may elect to start the full-back from the bench.
Byram was substituted at halftime against Blackburn due to a cold, and Farke noted he looked ‘pale’ at the time.
The full-back has started the last six games for the Whites, and based on his fitness/injury record, Farke will undoubtedly make the correct decision to rest him, with Max Wober returning to the starting lineup after recovering from an injury.
Farke could see as many as four other swaps with Leeds still in a hectic period of the season, and there could be a large turnover in attacking changes.
The four other changes Daniel Farke could make for Hull City trip
Leeds have been rotating a lot this season when it comes to their attacking options and the same could be set to happen on Saturday.
Joel Piroe came off just under 70 minutes in against Blackburn and after starting four of the last five games, this could present Mateo Joseph with the opportunity to start.
Not only has he started one in five but the 21-year-old could be more suited to a fast-paced counter against a weak Hull City side, who have seven first-team players out.
The rotation is likely to continue with Dan James having a mediocre showing against Blackburn which means Wilfried Gnonto takes his position back on the right, as for the other wing, there was much of debate around Farke’s decision to take off Solomon against Blackburn…
Farke may choose to rest the Tottenham loanee because Largie Ramazani was not involved in the Blackburn game, which will provide Solomon with much-needed rest after a busy Christmas.
The fifth and final change is debatable, but Ethan Ampadu might return to the team in place of Joe Rothwell, who started on the bench against Blackburn, to provide some much-needed defensive cover in midfield.
Five changes for Leeds then: Starting lineup: Illan Meslier, Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk, Max Wober, Ao Tanaka, Ethan Ampadu, Wilfried Gnonto, Brendan Aaronson, Largie Ramazani, and Mateo Joseph.
