Manchester City are interested in signing Pedro Porro this summer as they seek a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker, according to Tottenham News.
Porro has been a strong player for Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs this season.
The 24-year-old has started 19 of the north London club’s 20 Premier League games this season, registering seven assists.
His impressive performances have piqued the interest of some of Europe’s elite, with Tottenham News previously reporting that Real Madrid and Barcelona are both interested in the defender, and a recruitment source with close ties to Spurs has now told Tottenham News that Manchester City are interested in replacing Walker with Porro this summer.
Walker joined City from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017 in a transaction worth an initial £45 million. The right-back is already 33 years old, and City are already preparing for life without him, with the possibility of re-signing Porro from Spurs when the summer transfer market begins in June.
According to Tottenham News, Porro and Pep Guardiola’s Spanish connection might make a move even more appealing for the pair, with sources characterizing a transfer as “terribly hard” to turn down for the defender.
Porro was previously signed by Manchester City in 2019, but he struggled to break into the first-team picture at the Etihad Stadium and signed permanently for Sporting CP in 2022, before joining Spurs in January 2023 in a £39 million deal (Sky Sports News, 1 February 2023).
