Dan Bardell has suggested Ryan Kent as a possible free transfer replacement for Georginio Rutter at Leeds United.

The Whites will face competition from Leyton Orient to sign the 27-year-old after his release from Fenerbache [The Scottish Sun].

The winger established himself at Rangers and might return to the UK on a free move to Elland Road after Leeds bid £2.5 million in the summer [Haber Ekspres, 31 July].

Bardell, a Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist, feels the Englishman can replace Rutter and his output after joining Brighton in the past transfer window.

Bardell told MOT Leeds News: “It feels like a Leeds-type signing, Ryan Kent.

“They lost a number of attacking players during the summer transfer window, and they lack imagination in certain areas.

“We’ve seen how fantastic Georginio Rutter has been for Brighton this season, and he’s clearly been missed. Could Kent help counterbalance this a tiny bit?

“He should be able to play at the top end of the Championship. It’s going to be a long season, and I don’t believe Leeds has the bodies they did last season.

“If the wages are right then I think Kent would be a good pick-up for Leeds.”

Ryan Kent might succeed Georginio Rutter at Leeds United.

Last season, the Frenchman was brilliant under Daniel Farke, scoring eight goals and providing 16 assists across all competitions.

That output hasn’t been fully replaced at Elland Road this season, but the signing of Kent could assist supply those goal involvements through depth.

On a free transfer, the Whites could do worse than sign the former Liverpool youth as a squad option with Manor Solomon, Dan James, Willy Gnonto, and Largie Ramazani.
