The latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive as they prepare to face Leicester City and former boss Steve Cooper.
Leicester manager Steve Cooper is determined not to offend either group of fans as he prepares to face his former club Nottingham Forest on Friday.
Cooper was fired by Forest in December after leading them to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years and then keeping them there against the odds.
The Welshman was firmly immersed in the club’s culture and had a particular relationship with the fans, who saved him from being fired twice before owner Evangelos Marinakis finally pulled the bullet.
However, he refused to discuss his experience at the City Ground before to the match and declined to acknowledge the Forest fans.
“I’ll be focusing on the job in hand,” he told me.
“My perspective is that these professions are so demanding that you don’t have time to think about anything else.
“You don’t have time to let your mind wander.” If it does, you’ll have your comeuppance, as I learned even before I managed Swansea City.
“That’s where my mind is. And that is all I will say.
“I’ve always respected the jobs that I’ve had. I live in the now, try to be respectful and humble, and maybe that will serve me well and allow me to sleep at night.
“You won’t get any disrespect from me.”
