Nottingham Forest fans will be rubbing their hands at the prospect of the East Midlands derby, which will pit them against Steve Cooper’s Leicester City on Friday night.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team comes into this one having won and drawn their previous two games, as well as being in the top part of the table.
However, the Reds will be without their main man Nuno, who is still serving a three-match suspension after being accused by the FA.
Morgan Gibbs-White can return to the team if deemed fit, but Nuno did not say if he would be available during his pre-match press conference.
Interestingly, Steve Cooper will face Forest for the first time since his departure, with several of the players he signed at the City Ground set to face off against him.
Steve Cooper mentioned one Nottingham Forest player in his pre-match press conference.
Chris Wood joined Forest in January last year, while Cooper was still in charge.
However, the New Zealand international has achieved new heights under Nuno Espirito Santo’s tutelage, scoring five goals in eight appearances this season.
Cooper only mentioned Chris Wood briefly about Nottingham Forest during his pre-match press conference (as reported by the Leicester Mercury).
This is what he had to say.
“With Chris Wood, they have a goal scorer. They are creating opportunities for him, and they have good athleticism. Whatever team you play for in the Premier League, you can always see what they do well. But we have to support ourselves.”
Who will play if Morgan Gibbs-White is injured?
On Monday night, Nottingham Forest looked quite confident against Crystal Palace, creating 20 opportunities and having 51% possession at the City Ground.
However, playing away from home always presents a unique difficulty.
If Gibbs-White does not make it, Elliot Anderson will undoubtedly be given the opportunity to stand in for him again, as he had one of his greatest performances of the season, displaying his complete dribbling abilities.
If Gibbs-White is fit in time, Nicolas Dominguez might be dropped from midfield, but even that would be harsh given his several interceptions, tackles, and blocks against Palace.
