Interestingly, in a video broadcast by The Overlap on X, Jamie Carragher mentions Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest team while discussing the greatest performance in British football.
Gary Neville inquired.
“Is the triple (for Manchester United) the greatest achievement in British football, or not? “The 99 one.”
Carragher responded.
“You’re talking about British football; for example, look at what Nottingham Forest did. They rose through the ranks, won the league, and went on to win two European Cups consecutively.
“When you think about that, that is like mad.”

Between 1977 and 1979, the Reds rose from the second tier to become First Division champions, and then won Europe.
Clough also won four League Cups, the European Super Cup, and the Charity Shield.
Evangelos Marinakis recently recognized Clough’s effect. He will be remembered for the great things he achieved for this club.
Interestingly, Roy Keane, who was there when Carragher made this assertion, was given accommodation by Brian Clough when he joined Nottingham Forest.
