Ally McCoist confesses he’s a tremendous fan of Nottingham Forest’s ‘nightmare’ player

Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League, maintaining their unblemished away record this season.

Forest have played four away games against Southampton, Liverpool, Brighton, and now Chelsea, winning two and drawing two.

Yesterday’s game was all about goalkeepers. Joe Hart praised Matz Sels for his heroics, while Robert Sanchez was also in top form throughout.

Chelsea were frightened by Forest at times, and Neco Williams caused havoc when he came on as a substitute.

It emphasized Nuno Espirito Santo’s tactical prowess at Stamford Bridge, and Jamie O’Hara was impressed.

Ally McCoist describes the Nottingham Forest player as a ‘nightmare’ for defenders.

Forest scored again on Sunday, with Chris Wood prodding home his fourth goal of the season.

He tapped home in the 49th minute after Nikola Milenkovic won a header off a James Ward-Prowse free kick.

Forest couldn’t cling on for three points, but following last weekend’s setback to Fulham, this was a nice share of the spoils.

McCoist was a centre-forward himself and has stated that he is a big fan of Wood, admitting that he must be tremendously difficult to play against.

Wood stepped up after the summer striker search.

Wood must have been rubbing his hands together when Forest failed to sign a striker this summer.

Forest was repeatedly rejected by Santiago Gimenez, and he wasn’t alone.

Eddie Nketiah, an Arsenal striker, appeared to be on his way to Nottingham Forest until Oliver Glasner persuaded him to join Crystal Palace.

On deadline day, a third transfer failed, this time for Omar Marmoush, and the Eintracht Frankfurt striker is currently surpassing Harry Kane.

However, Forest does have a secret weapon in Wood.

He hasn’t been deterred by the club’s desire to add another striker, and has just put his head down and resumed where he left off last season.

His 14 goals in 2023/24 kept Forest in the Premier League, and he will be looking for a similar total this season under Espirito Santo.

With Wood out of contract in the summer, Forest will undoubtedly be hunting for alternative strikers in future transfer windows.

Right now, he’s the immovable focal point of the Forest team, and long may his prolific goal-scoring streak continue.
