Evangelos Marinakis links up with the club as Nottingham Forest player excels on loan

Nottingham Forest loanee Omar Richards has received acclaim from the Portuguese media for his performance for Rio Ave over the weekend.

During the summer transfer window, the 26-year-old joined the Liga Portugal club on a season-long loan, with Evangelos Marinakis’ ownership in Rio Ave assisting the deal.

O Jogo covered the game between Rio Ave and Estoril over the weekend, and the Nottingham Forest-owned defender was one of the standouts. Richards made his third start for the Portuguese club in the 2-2 draw, and he assisted his team to a point.

The Portuguese media outlet also praised Marios Vrousai, who was loaned out to Rio Ave from Marinakis’ Olympiacos.
Richards joined Nottingham Forest from Bayern Munich in 2022, but is yet to make an appearance for the Premier League club. He spent the season on loan at Olympiacos, where he appeared in 14 games.

He has a contract with Forest until June 2026, but his future at the City Ground is questionable.
