Exclusive: Leeds ‘keen’ to open new contract talks with 26-yr-old

According to Football Insider, Leeds United are “keen” to begin new contract talks with Dan James.

The Welsh international is currently under contract with the Yorkshire giants until the summer of 2026.

However, Leeds do not want the 26-year-old to reach the last 18 months of his contract without an agreement in place.

Leeds will be vulnerable to selling James next year if a new agreement isn’t signed, and the club are keen to avoid that scenario.

James has been with the club since 2021 and has made three appearances for the Whites this season.

The winger has missed the last three league games due to a hamstring injury, which is now keeping him out.

Leeds United hope to extend Dan James’ tenure at Elland Road.

James has already scored once this season, against Sheffield Wednesday, in Leeds’ 2-0 win.

Since joining the West Yorkshire club, the Welshman has made 89 appearances, scoring 18 goals and assisting 12 times.

The club is now looking to extend his current contract at Elland Road to ensure his long-term future.

Daniel Farke’s side is now sixth in the Championship after six games, with only one defeat.

The Whites will return to action on September 29th, against Coventry.
