Nottingham Forest has had a fantastic start to the season, and they are currently sixth in the league table.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team has eight points from their first four games, putting them on track for an unblemished campaign.
This puts the Reds just two points behind second place in what has been an unexpectedly successful season thus far.
And in their most recent visit to Anfield, Forest delivered the season’s biggest shock by winning all three points.
Despite some early injury setbacks, the Reds have had such a fantastic start to the season.
And there is one player who has replaced Nuno who, according to Chris Sutton, has irritated the opposition.
Chris Sutton is impressed by ‘special’ Nottingham Forest player.
Danilo has sustained an injury that necessitated surgery, therefore Forest has had a difficult season thus far.
More lately, Ibrahim Sangare has been sidelined due to a serious injury.Clearly, this has not been a problem for the Reds, as they have still managed to achieve results like last weekend without the midfield partnership.
In his weekly prediction column for BBC Sport, Sutton indicated that the Reds might secure a respectable 1-1 draw away to Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend.
However, he was also impressed by some of the individual performances at Anfield last weekend, particularly Ryan Yates’ ‘special’ display.
“It is hard to predict a defeat for Nottingham Forest now because they were so good at Liverpool and their backline of Nikola Milenkovic, Murillo, Alex Moreno and Ola Aina were just tremendous,” stated the player.
“Forest also had James Ward-Prowse sitting in front of their back four, ticking things over, and Ryan Yates alongside him, getting on everyone’s nerves with his tenacity.”
“Their substitutes also had an impact on the game at Anfield, and the entire team remained composed.
“So, while I look at Brighton and think they are capable of scoring, based on what I saw from Forest, why would I say they will lose?”
Nottingham Forest might produce some major upsets this season.
After battling relegation throughout last season, the Reds’ start to the new season has presented a much more positive perspective.
Of course, Forest will not go the entire season unbeaten, but the early signs reveal a much more resilient Forest side than fans saw last season.
However, the efforts of players like the £25,000-per-week Yates may have gone a long way toward securing the points that have Forest solidly in the top half.
Fans will not be complaining too much, though, because they have twice as many points as Tottenham Hotspur.
