Leeds ace who ‘Rattled’ opponent wows national media with 8/10 performance on international duty

According to WalesOnline, Joe Rodon “stood up” for Wales in a solid performance while on international service.

WalesOnline rated the centre-back an 8/10 after Friday’s Nations League goalless draw.

They also stated that Rodon “rattled” Turkey forward Baris Alper Yilmaz in the first half, despite missing a “great chance” in the early moments of the game.

The feeling was echoed by Y Clwb Pel-Droed in their own ratings (6 September), with Rodon receiving an 8/10. They stated the Leeds player “won everything that came near him” and, alongside Tottenham’s Ben Davies, limited Turkey’s chances on goal.

Joe Rodon Wales’ accolades are scarcely surprise given Leeds United’s form.

Rodon’s impressive rating for his international efforts is a continuation of his domestic form at Elland Road over the past year, with lots of 8/10s awarded to the Welshman last season.

Rodon, who played alongside Pascal Struijk and compatriot Ethan Ampadu for much of the previous season, established himself as a regular in Daniel Farke’s side during his loan term from Tottenham.

Rodon has returned to LS11 permanently for £10 million after Archie Gray left, and it appears that his centre-back berth will be his to lose for the foreseeable future for both club and nation.

Rodon and Struijk’s connection has resumed where it left off, with new club captain Ampadu returning to midfield, and Maximilian Wober, another left-sided defender, also returning.

Aside from youngsters like James Debayo and Diogo Monteiro, Rodon remains the apparent choice in the right-center-back position, and as he transfers his club success to the international arena, the 26-year-old is making £10 million appear like a bargain.
