Liverpool fans are out of words to laud Ryan Gravenberch after another flawless performance against RB Leipzig. On Wednesday, the Reds defeated Leipzig 0-1 away at Red Bull Arena in the third league phase of the Champions League.

Liverpool has won 11 of 12 games in all competitions as the tight fixture schedule tests the squad’s limits. Gravenberch, on the other hand, has played every minute for the Reds, with the exception of the Carabao Cup win over West Ham in September.

Since the start of this season, the 22-year-old has established himself as Arne Slot’s first-choice number six. Liverpool failed to capture Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, their sixth priority during the summer transfer window.

Gravenberch seized the opportunity to start for the club in his familiar number six position. While the Dutch international prefers a more forward role, he has previously played at number six for Ajax.

Slot’s tactical system necessitates a defensive midfielder with a significantly different profile than what Liverpool preferred under legendary Jurgen Klopp. The Dutch head coach likes a more cautious approach and insists on maintaining the team’s structure, which leaves less room for a number six to cover.

Gravenberch has loved the method since it allows him to showcase his strength while gradually correcting a few weak playing characteristics. The 22-year-old has played an important role for the team, influencing both the defensive and offensive aspects of play.

According to SofaScore, Gravenberch had 95% passing accuracy from 63 passes and 76 touches, as well as 100% long ball accuracy. The 22-year-old won four of six ground duels, all aerial duels, and one foul for his team.

Gravenberch also had a great defensive performance, winning three tackles, three interceptions, making one clearance, and blocking two shots. The Dutch international dominated the areas between midfield and defence, earning his team a well-deserved clean sheet.
