Although Nottingham Forest prefers a calmer transfer season in January, the club has already been connected with a number of players.
Forest’s strategy is to expand on Nuno Espirito Santo’s existing resources. So far in 2024/25, the Reds have utilized only 23 players, and it appears that Forest’s head coach prefers to operate with a simplified group.
Evangelos Marinakis would love to sign a new forward. Forest have been linked with Yoane Wissa, with the Reds’ initial offer rejected by Brentford and a deal looking unlikely this month.
Igor Jesus has also been linked with a move to Forest. The Botafogo striker scored 25 goals in the 2024 season as the Brazilian club won the title for the first time in its history, and Europe is calling for him.
Forest might not sign a central forward. Attackers in general are being looked at, while another player appears to be on the verge of leaving his current club before the transfer window shuts.
Forest-linked Marcus Edwards is currently training away from the Sporting CP first-team.
Forest was connected with Edwards earlier this month. The player previously compared to Lionel Messi is now at Sporting CP but has plummeted down the pecking order under new manager Rui Borges.
It is said that Forest can sign Edwards for just £8 million this month. According to A Bola in Portugal, the Reds now have the best chance of landing him.
Since taking over for Manchester United’s Ruben Amorim, Edwards has done nothing to win over Borges. In fact, it is said that he is now training away from the main squad, with Sporting willing to entertain bids.
The former Tottenham Hotspur player has made waves in Portugal. He scored 20 goals in a couple seasons with Vitoria before joining Sporting, where he has now contributed 50 goals.
Edwards would be extremely useful. Forest Signing
This may be a very enticing signing. Edwards is not only a player who, at 26, fits the profile of a potential Reds addition, but he is also left-footed, which would provide some balance.
Edwards may have lost his way at Sporting, but he still has three goals to his name, and perhaps at this point in his career, it is time for him to return to England.
The player would need to show himself in the Premier League. However, he appears to be the type of player who may complement the present wingers well, especially since Edwards enjoys taking on opponents.
Forest has been market-savvy in recent windows. If Edwards can be purchased for just £8 million, it would appear to be a risk-free move with several positive aspects.
