Philippe Clement has been fighting to keep his position as Rangers manager, and now there is a big update on his future at Ibrox.
Clement fights to keep Rangers job
The Gers’ recent Scottish Cup loss at the hands of Queen’s Park was one of the club’s lowest points in recent history, adding even more pressure on Clement, with the crowd quickly turning against him.
Rangers faced a must-win game away to Hearts in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, and the manager knew that only success would alleviate any pressure on him.
Fortunately for Clement, the Gers battled their way to a 3-1 win, with Jamie McCart scoring two own goals for the hosts and Vaclav Cerny also scoring. In truth, the performance wasn’t entirely convincing for long stretches, with Hearts creating numerous opportunities.
Rangers’ victory means they are back 13 points behind Celtic at the top of the league, with some fantastic form required to close the gap on their opponents. It’s unclear whether Clement will still be in command at Ibrox at the end of the season, but a new update on his future has been released.

Andy Newport, a reliable writer, wrote in The Daily Record on Monday [via Ibrox News] on Clement’s role at Rangers.
“Still clinging on to his job.”
He also stated that Gers supporters’ opinions towards the Belgian have not changed, adding: “The Ibrox faithful have long since made their minds up on the beleaguered Belgian and this (win at Hearts) won’t change anything.”
At this moment, it’s difficult to envision Clement as the Rangers’ long-term option, with the aforementioned loss to Queen’s Park doing almost too much harm to ever fully salvage him moving ahead.
Former Gers striker Kris Boyd has made it clear what he believes should happen to the manager, disputing the 50-year-old’s judgment of Sunday’s game. “I’m not sure; sometimes I think Philippe Clement has witnessed a different game.
“Hearts caused Rangers a lot of issues. Rangers won the game, but large teams in other nations, like Celtic in Scotland, dominate football games.
“They have better players, spend a lot more money on wages, and dominate football games, which I have never seen from Rangers. I never see it. There are times when they are on top and you believe they will score a few goals, but then they revert to what we see far too frequently from Rangers.”
Only a remarkable reversal for Clement, such as winning the Europa League or progressing very far in the competition, will save him at this stage, but it is extremely unlikely.
