£40,000-a-week Nottingham Forest player now makes a weird remark regarding Mark Clattenburg

Nottingham Forest No. 43 Ola Aina has now made a bizarre remark regarding Mark Clattenburg.

The 49-year-old recently resigned from his position as a Refereeing Consultant following a criticism in the media, primarily from Sky Sports and Gary Neville, following the very contentious 2-0 defeat over Everton in April.

As Nottingham Forest prepare for a crucial Premier League match against Chelsea on Saturday, Ola Aina has made an unusual statement about Mark Clattenburg.

Ola Aina produces bizarre Mark Clattenburg’s admission

Almost amazingly, the Nigeria international told the Guardian he had no idea the man from Consett was briefly employed by Nottingham Forest.

The Guardian did not quote Aina directly, but in a precursor to his opinion on refereeing decisions against Nottingham Forest, he stated:

Regarding the four-point deduction that has forced Forest to fight for their lives, as well as the controversies surrounding his club’s public spat with the referees’ body, the PGMOL, Aina – who claims he was unaware Mark Clattenburg was briefly employed as a refereeing consultant or that he officiates on Gladiators – believes both have strengthened the players’ resolve.

    That’s unusual.

Clattenburg’s role at Nottingham Forest is widely known.

As previously stated, Neville made a big deal about it on Sky Sports, referring to Nottingham Forest as a “mafia gang” in comments that the Daily Mail claims have now been taken over by legal counsel.

As a result, it’s difficult to think Aina was unaware Clattenburg worked at the City Ground, though it could be attributed to the £40,000-a-week man’s concentration and ability to block out distractions.

Nottingham Forest must learn from the Refereeing Consultant debacle.

We believe it was a horrible decision to hire a Refereeing Consultant in the first place.

It was unlikely to influence the outcome of anything on the pitch; in fact, Nottingham Forest feel the appointment enraged the PGMOL.

That is according to the Daily Mail.

Hopefully, such an unusual move will not occur again under Evangelos Marinakis.
